What is 20/20 Select Vision?
20/20 Select Vision is an insurance program that provides for eye examinations,
glasses and contact lenses.
What are the benefits under 20/20 Select Vision?
Your 20/20 Select benefits are divided into two categories:
- Benefits for vision examinations
- Benefits for eye wear (i.e. frames, lenses, or contacts)
When you use your 20/20 Select plan, you will have a co-payment for your vision exam and a
co-payment for your eyewear. Co-payments and benefit amounts are determined by the plan
sponsor. After your co-payment, 20/20 Select will pay up to a fixed dollar amount for
your eye exam and a fixed dollar amount for your eyewear. If your total charges exceed
that, you are responsible for the balance.
An additional benefit is access to the Coast to Coast Discount provider network. These
discounts provide you access to eyewear at greatly reduced prices. Using the Coast to
Coast providers, your insured benefits cover much more than when paying retail. By
using one of these providers, you typically will avoid any balance charges.
Can I go to any eyewear provider or specialist?
Yes. You may go to any doctor or vision center you wish. Your 20/20
Select benefits are fixed regardless of where you obtain your examination or eyewear. However,
we've teamed up with Coast to Coast to provide discounted services to stretch the value of your
20/20 Select plan.
Can I pick out any lens style or frame I choose?
Yes. One of the great features of 20/20 Select Vision is this is an insured
plan that provides you a dollar amount benefit. You are free to choose whatever lenses or
frames you want to apply your benefit to and there are no restrictions on your vision center.
When and how often can I use my 20/20 Select Vision benefits?
You can use 20/20 Select for the first time any time following the effective date
of your coverage. However, once you have used the benefit, you cannot use the benefit again until
the benefit period selected by the group sponsor has elapsed.
Substantial discounts on eyewear are ALWAYS available when using the vision
discount network, even when you are in a benefit waiting period. Receiving discounts is not
tied to receiving benefits.
Can I have my examination at the same place I receive my eye wear?
Yes, but your vision exam and materials benefit are totally separate and each
benefit has its own benefit period. You may use each benefit separately.
Can my family participate?
Absolutely. At the time of your enrollment, you are free to select coverage for
either yourself or your entire family. A single additional fee will cover everyone in your family.
Best of all, each one of your family members is free to visit the vision center of their choice
at their convenience; you do not all need to go at the same time.
When may I enroll in the program?
You can enroll at the time you join the sponsoring group or during the sponsoring
group's open enrollment period, which occurs once a year.
How long may I keep this coverage?
You can leave the program when you are no longer associated with the sponsor
(leave your employer) or during open enrollment.
